Tischgesellschaft
Each year, on the first Monday in February a selected circle of patrons assemble at Museum für Moderne Kunst to dine. 16 hosts invite 16 guests to dinner at a quite extraordinary venue, namely the “Mensa” designed by artists Wolfgang Winter and Berthold Hörbelt. Museum Director Dr. Susanne Gaensheimer introduces the evening and presents a guest speaker.
Each guest then becomes a host in the following year, and in turn nominates a new member for the annual Tischgesellschaft. In this way, a group of committed patrons emerges that is dedicated in quite unique fashion to supporting the Museum für Moderne Kunst. The totality of members then meet up every second year for the “Große Tischgesellschaft”.
Both the host and the guest donate the sum of EUR 1,500 in order to take part in the Tischgesellschaft. Moreover, the host also covers the cost of the hospitality, which comes to EUR 250. The MMK is using these donations to fund special projects.
As of the third year, participants become members of the “Große Tischgesellschaft” and support the Museum für Moderne Kunst with an annual donation of EUR 500. The Tischgesellschaft has taken upon itself to forge close links between patrons, curators and artists, and to provide substantive support for the MMK’s work.
