NOT IN FASHION
Fashion and Photography in the 90s
September 25, 2010 - January 9, 2011
The MMK is casting a glance at the decade of fashion photography: the 90s. The 1990s were a decade of individualism and self-defined style. In fashion and photography the focus was on finding personal forms and visual idioms to express that new feeling for life. For the very first time, a museum of contemporary art will be showing on a wide scale and in the context of art history just how radical and innovative the avant-garde thrust of the 1990s designers, artists and photographers was.

Presented in the current exhibition ”Radical Conceptual“ (February 19 – August 22, 2010), the work consists of a loudspeaker system suspended from the ceiling used to convey a computer-generated, eight-channel sound composition. Conceptual art on paper from the MMK Collection
FUNCTIONS OF DRAWING
March 27 – August 22, 2010
From March 28 until August 22, 2010 MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt/Main is showing conceptual art on paper from its abundant collection of graphic art for the first time. Conceptual art has been a key component of many artists’ visual outlook and activity since the 1960s. Above all, minimalist and concept art have developed new strategies, at whose starting and end points drawing often carries the artistic ideas. These can be articulated in pure concepts, or in graphs, designs or accompanying draft sketches. Here, drawing, writing and image frequently forge an independent aesthetic connection.
