After the assassination of the Spokesman of the Managing Board of the Dresdner Bank, Jürgen Ponto, Ignes Ponto and the Dresdner Bank founded the Jürgen Ponto–Foundation in the year 1977. The Jürgen Ponto–Foundation persues the aim to support young and widely unknown artists who stand at the beginning of their career. The guiding idea hereby is to encourage such creative personalities who reveal in their works a new creative approach. Since 2003 two scholarships have been granted every year.
